Florida

Healthcare technology for Florida clinics, built around Florida's rules.

AtlantiX Labs is a Florida-registered company that works with clinics across the United States. Florida practices carry state rules on top of HIPAA. Here is what they are, and how our systems are built to respect them.

HIPAA and HITECH-aligned, 42 CFR Part 2-ready. Built in from the first line of code.

Florida's rules

Four Florida topics every clinic technology partner should understand.

This page explains how our systems support them. It is not legal advice, so check the details with your own attorney.

Data breach law

What does Florida require if patient data is breached?

Florida's Information Protection Act (section 501.171, Florida Statutes) sets its own notice deadlines, separate from HIPAA. Affected individuals generally must be told within 30 days of a breach being determined, the Florida Department of Legal Affairs when 500 or more Floridians are affected, and a vendor holding data for you must notify you within 10 days (Florida Bar Journal).

We build audit logging into every system, so you can see quickly what happened and who was affected, and the Business Associate Agreement sets how fast we notify you.

When the clock starts, you already have the facts.
Patient records

How does Florida treat patient records?

Section 456.057, Florida Statutes, makes what a patient tells a practitioner confidential, allows disclosure only as the law and the patient's written authorization permit, and expects record owners to have policies that protect record security and to keep a record of disclosures to third parties (Florida Senate).

Access controls limit who sees a record, and audit logging keeps the record of who accessed or disclosed what, so it is not assembled by hand later.

Every access has a reason and leaves a record.
Substance use records

Treating substance use disorders in Florida?

Chapter 397, Florida Statutes, makes substance use service provider records confidential, and section 397.501 allows disclosure without the client's written consent only in specific circumstances (Florida Senate). Federal 42 CFR Part 2 applies as well.

Consent tracking and access rules are built in from the first line of code, so consent requirements are followed and every access is recorded. See our page for behavioral health practices.

Records are shared only as consent allows, and there is a log to show it.
Medicaid

Serving Florida Medicaid patients?

Florida Medicaid runs through Statewide Medicaid Managed Care, overseen by the Agency for Health Care Administration, with managed care plans that vary by region (AHCA).

Denial and prior authorization tracking is built around your actual payer mix, including Medicaid plans, so each plan's rules are tracked instead of remembered.

Fewer surprises when a plan's requirements differ from the last one.
